I don’t remember exactly when I attended my first yoga class, it was probably 8 years ago. In any case, I haven’t stopped practicing since then (there were very seldom breaks — and that always took a terrible toll on me :)) I realized pretty quickly: I can’t do without yoga anymore! So I became a yoga freak. Why? With the help of yoga, everything becomes easier, mental clarity and concentration become stronger and the dramas of life last less and are less grueling. Yoga always throws me back into my center. Yoga changes with me and is my guide. Yoga is an expression of my joy in play, movement, dance, flexibility, authenticity and genuine feelings. It makes me want to get involved in life with full power, but also shows me when I have to accept cutbacks and breaks. Yoga creates connections between seemingly irreconcilable things. And I can sing a song about that! I mostly work as a doctor, and whenever the opportunity arises as an actress as well. I don’t really see teaching yoga as work. Rather, it is the essence that holds everything together. I was trained at Spirit Yoga Berlin (Patricia Thielemann), after which I completed a yoga therapy teacher training course in India and spent several weeks practicing Ashtanga in Mysore. Of course, I have also done numerous workshops and training courses (e.g. with Ana Forrest, Tias Little, Bryan Kest, Patrick Broome and many more) and I still do it whenever the opportunity arises.  See MoreSee Less

YIN YOGA with @maartjepasman

My yoga journey started in 2009 as a purely physical practice. Since I am a dancer, I was looking for a supplement and a balance to my work. I found this in yoga. A sweaty practice as a warm-up and a calming Yin hour as a cool-down. But a lot has happened over the years and now I can say that yoga is so much more to me than just a physical practice. For me, yoga means arriving at myself. To arrive in the heart, in my essence. Walk, speak, laugh, dance, breathe, live with open hearts. Yoga breathes through my everyday life. through my being. Yoga teaches me to accept myself as I am right now. As a dancer, I’m used to pushing my physical limits. Through my practice on the mat I have learned to reflect, to really listen to myself, to pay more attention to my body. During a dance performance I am always very busy with how I appear to the outside world: “What am I conveying when I move my body like this”. On the yoga mat I can totally let go. It’s a moment for me Not for the audience, no, it’s purely an introspection. I love practicing challenging asanas on the yoga mat, but pranayama, meditation and chanting help me open my energy channels to the bigger picture and have given me depth. Yoga helps me to get into my own strength, to switch off my monkey mind for a short time, to further develop self-love and to be more in the here and now. Yoga is my personal inner dance of body, mind and soul. With me you can expect a Vinyasa Flow class, flowing and powerful, with stability and lightness and a smile on your face. A holistic class where there is space for stillness, pranayama and asanas.

Through my practice on the mat I have learned to reflect, to really listen to myself, to pay more attention to my body. During a dance performance I am always very busy with how I appear to the outside world: What am I conveying when I move my body like this. On the yoga mat I can totally let go. Its a moment for me Not for the audience, no, its purely an introspection.

I am deeply touched by the beauty that surrounds me. Perception is probably one of the most fascinating things in the world for me and probably one of the reasons why I became a psychologist. Much more important and almost obvious to me, however, is the uniqueness of a person. How movement, breathing and the melody of his language define and shape his expression, how every moment of life carries within it the possibility to think, feel, speak and act from the purest intention. We often forget this potential and so external influences or our habits take over instead of our deepest needs. That’s how I found my way onto the yoga mat. I didn’t want to be satisfied with a disturbed and deficient image of the human being that I was learning, and out of this desperation I sought a place of rest during my studies. Little did I know at the time that this place would open a much bigger door for me. Today I wonder every day how it can be that this thousand-year-old knowledge is not considered in today’s psychology, especially in its practice. There is a lot in my style. My personal story as a woman, my experiences and perception of the world, over 500 hours of international yoga teacher training and the potential that my students bring to the class. I like clear, strong and structured Vinyasa flows. However, my heart lies in the sensuality and its emotional, physical and spiritual feeling, which can be experienced especially in Yin Yoga. The relationship to one’s own body, roots, nature and one’s own femininity in all its cycles and phases hides the potential for both women and men to find meaning and awareness of ourselves and our world again. My work with pure therapeutic essential oils also opens up a space for me to experience this knowledge again and to understand my own history step by step in all its layers, cycles and characteristics, to listen to your own intuition and to get back into my own balance, to find the basic trust.

Thats how I found my way onto the yoga mat. I didnt want to be satisfied with a disturbed and deficient image of the human being that I was learning, and out of this desperation I sought a place of rest during my studies. Little did I know at the time that this place would open a much bigger door for me. Today I wonder every day how it can be that this thousand-year-old knowledge is not considered in todays psychology, especially in its practice. The relationship to ones own body, roots, nature and ones own femininity in all its cycles and phases hides the potential for both women and men to find meaning and awareness of ourselves and our world again. My work with pure therapeutic essential oils also opens up a space for me to experience this knowledge again and to understand my own history step by step in all its layers, cycles and characteristics, to listen to your own intuition and to get back into my own balance, to find the basic trust.
